Position Overview

Our client is seeking a dynamic and strategic Sales Director to lead their business development efforts within the Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences markets. This role is pivotal in driving revenue growth, managing direct sales activities, and contributing to the design and functionality of a cutting-edge product line. The ideal candidate will be an innovative thinker with a proven track record in sales, particularly within startup environments and the life sciences domain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development: Cultivate new business opportunities and establish a strong market presence within assigned territories.
  • Sales Leadership: Lead and manage all business development and direct sales activities, including the recruitment and management of an effective sales force.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement go-to-market and strategic development plans, including market segmentation and sales target setting.
  • Client Engagement: Present our client’s products through online and on-site demonstrations, respond to RFIs and RFPs, and develop pricing proposals.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the senior management team to determine strategies for business growth and collaborate across Commercial, Product, and Engineering business lines.
  • Sales Forecasting: Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting on a regular basis.
  • Problem Solving: Actively contribute to the decision-making process, understand customer problems, and propose design alternatives to support product success.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience: 5+ years of proven sales experience in a startup environment and/or in the life sciences research and development field. Experience in early startup businesses is a plus.
  • Track Record: Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic sales plans and market segmentation strategies.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership capabilities in managing business development teams and strategic initiatives.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent planning, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Communication: Outstanding written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with executives, peers, managers, and team members.
  • Collaboration: Effective team player and collaborator with high energy levels and a desire to succeed.
  • Customer Insight: Ability to understand the Life Sciences customer’s needs and provide solutions.
